Here comes the first ESN Oulu newsletter! Some things to take note of:
ORIENTATION EVENTS
We are present at both universities orientation events, giving information about ESN and handing out the free GOODIE BAGS. Goodie Bag includes, amongst other things, your free SIM-card! Find us and get your Goodie Bag at following places:
University of Oulu
22.8, 9am-12pm: Orientation fair at Linnanmaa campus. Check with Admissions Office for exact location.
23.8, 10:30am-12pm: Info session, location lecture hall L1
7.9, 10am-2pm: Student organisation fair, Linnanmaa campus main lobby
Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OUAS)
26.8, 11:35am-12pm: Info session, Professorintie campus, Assembly hall
26.8, 12pm-2:30pm: Market Place Oulu, Professorintie campus
6.9, 2pm-5pm: Semester Opening Event, Ouluhalli

ESN OULU OFFICE HOURS
ESN Oulu office is regularly open Wednesdays 2pm-4pm, starting Wednesday August 24th. Our office is located at the Linnanmaa campus, room HK204. Check out exact instructions here. From the office you can get student overalls, patches, ESNcard and the Goodie Bag. Cash is king! Cards dont always work.
ESNcard
ESNcard is an international discount card for exchange students. Benefits are available locally in Oulu, nationally in Finland and internationally in Europe! ESNcard holders get discounts from some ESN events, and they get in for free to ESN parties in Tivoli nightclub. Check all deals at ESNcard.org. You can get your card from ESN Oulu, more information here. NOTE! ESNcard is NOT the same as official university student card!
SURVIVAL PACK ROOM
NISO runs the Survival Pack Room for exchange students. From there you can get some recycled necessities like cutlery, pans or curtains, for free. Note that this is all donations and limited availability. Contact NISO for more information.
TRIPS
ESN Oulu works with Timetravels travel agency to provide some amazing trips to Russia, Norway, Finnish Lapland and Sweden. All Timetravels trips dates are now confirmed and you can check out trips details here.
OTHER ESN OULU TRIPS AND EVENTS IN FALL 2016
We organise 30-40 different trips and events for you every semester. Stay tuned for details! Here are the highlights of the Fall season:
ESN-NISO Afternoon 3.9
A day of fun and games, getting to know each other in a relaxed environment. Complete with snacks and sauna!
MökkiWeekend 9.-11.9
We go to experience pure Finnish nature and genuine cottage life the way Finns love it. No indoors toilet or Pokemons here! :D Program includes light hiking, games, sauna, bonfire BBQ and excellent company.
CityRally 14.9
NO CARS INVOLVED. In this event you will get to know Oulu city center by foot while competing in teams. Your job is to find task points and impress ESN-judges with your team spirit and skills! Winners will get fame and prizes. Student orienteering is mandatory for anyone wanting to experience the true Finnish student life J
Around the world in 3 hours 4.10
Here you get to show off your home countrys dishes and culture, while enjoying others treats! Bring food, get food. If you love presenting your countrys culture in the form of dancing, singing or other performance, even better. Show us what you got!
ESN Oulu SitSit 4.11
SitSit is the traditional Finnish student dinner. It includes a three course meal, singing, toasting, after party and ofcourse, sauna. No formal attire required!
Ski trip to Iso-Syöte 3.12
A day trip to check out the slopes and views! We reserve the right to cancel in case of no-snow situation.
Pirates of the Baltic Sea cruise to Sweden
Yarr! We take a party cruise to the Swedish capital, Stockholm, with 2000 international students from all over the Baltic countries. Date to be confirmed. Check out cruise website here
